Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) Certification

Progressive Medical Center, INC is certified by Medicare (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, CMS) as a Community Mental Health Center (CMHC), with on-site surveys conducted by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.

Our CMHC certification confirms that we meet the federal conditions of participation for community mental health care, and allows us to offer intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs to Medicare beneficiaries.

A CMHC is an outpatient facility certified by Medicare to provide comprehensive mental health services to its community: psychiatric evaluation and treatment, individual and group therapy, case management, intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs, and services for children, older adults, people with chronic mental illness and patients recently discharged from inpatient care.

To be certified, a CMHC must meet the federal Conditions of Participation (42 CFR Part 485, Subpart J): a governing body, client rights, individualized assessments and treatment plans, a quality improvement program, infection control, qualified staff and coordinated discharge planning. Compliance is verified through on-site surveys.
